Testimonials from Customers & Friends

Sturdy equipment at a fair price. One other reviewer complained about the hours and the drop-off time. I thought the hours and the drop-off times were reasonable.

I was in the area for a wedding and really wanted to get a chance to get in some mountain biking. They set me up with a well maintained Trek Fuel and shared information about some additional trails beyond what I had researched. I ended up going both to Sandy Ridge and I did the Timberline to Town trail at Mt Hood via the Mt Hood Express bus which has bike racks to get you up the mountain. I highly recommend both with a slight nod to the latter as what’s not to like about down hill single track.

I have rented XC ski packages with Otto’s twice before and they were great. They are in the Chinook book for 2 for 1 rentals – awesome!

Absolutely love Otto’s! Their rentals are fairly priced, and they have plenty of knowledge about them! They kept my record of ski rentals so that when I came back the year after I could get my exact same skis boots and poles!

They really go above and beyond for customer service. Some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

I really recommend them!

Otto’s is the best place to stop for cross-country and snowshoe gear on your way to Mt Hood. They offer great customer service and are so knowledgeable. I wouldn’t rent from anywhere else. They also have some gear for sale.

I’ve been here several times throughout the years for winter rentals, but I recently went up during the summer & rented a mountain bike. I met the owner, & she & the other employees were extremely helpful & accommodating. The mountain bike I rented was awesome on the Sandy Ridge Trail. From my experience, winter weekend morning can be a bit crowded, but the service is always great.

While visiting a friend in Portland, we decided to hit the trails one day and Otto’s was able to provide us with everything we needed. I had only reserved one bike but they were able to accommodate my friend as well without issue. Would definitely recommend their mountain bike rental service, they made the riding experience that much better.

Thank you so much for all of your help with my skate skis this year for Pole, Pedal, Paddle. You were very easy and enjoyable to work with. I hope to buy a full set up of skate ski gear from you this year. Thanks again!

Fantastic Little Ski Shop – I purchased my xc skis from Otto’s, they are very helpful and knowledgable.

As a beginner last year, I had a lot of questions and the owner spent as much time as I needed helping me, fitting me and educating me. I recommend them to everyone and I like to support local business. I found my skis on sale so I got a great deal. I don’t think they are any more spendy than other places.

Let’s face it, fun sports cost money and good equipment is worth the cost. Otto’s has a great selection of rental equipment and regular stock. I have rented from them for 5 years before I started purchasing my own equipment.

A great little cross country ski and snowshoe rental place in Sandy that also sells ski gear etc. Family owned, friendly and great recommendations on current snow conditions, and reasonable rates for day and seasonal rentals.

My friends and I stopped in at Otto’s today for gear rental on our way to snowshoe at Trillium Lake. The helpful and friendly staff had the four of us in and out of the store in about 15-20 minutes with rented hiking boots ($2) and snowshoes ($13). We are all beginning snowshoers (1st and 2nd timers) and the store clerk demonstrated the donning and fastening of the snowshoes for us. They even take down your destination and an emergency contact in the event that you don’t return so they can get ahold of your contact and tell them to call the Clackamas County Sheriff. The location is very convenient to points beyond Sandy. I would highly recommend Otto’s for convenience and quality of customer service.

I went with my family to go snowshoeing on Mt. Hood. I decided to go to Otto’s to rent gear. Otto’s ended up being a great choice.

My kids and I all sat down in the back and the employee got us equipment, showed us how to use it, and gave us advice on where to go. He was very clear about needing to get back before closing and helped us figure out a rough schedule to make sure we could enjoy our time but still get back when we had to. The price for the rental was reasonable and, in the craziest of busy days, we were in and out in 30 minutes.

The place we went to, based on the advice we got, was great. The equipment was easy to use and in excellent condition. We had a great day out on the mountain.

If I need to rent equipment again, I will definitely go to Otto’s.

I bought two sets of skis at Otto’s this year and I had an excellent experience both times. Andreanne, the owner, asked me questions about what kind of skier I am and helped me pick out my equipment. I leaned heavily on her advice, and I was delighted with my new skis. I flew around the groomed trails; it was like a different sport.

I ran into Andreanne and Jacquie, who works at Otto’s, at Teacup in late April. They invited me to ski with them and I am very lucky that I did. They were great company, and when I noticed my boot was coming loose from the sole, and ice was packed in between boot and sole, they managed to fix me up with some rubber bands and duct tape and I continued to enjoy my last ski of the season. They saved me from a pretty miserable struggle back to the car. I got back to Otto’s ahead of them, but Andreanne had called ahead and her employee sold me a great pair of boots at an excellent price.

I wholeheartedly recommend Otto’s – a friendly place with very knowledgeable people and good prices.

Excellent service and equipment.
