Greetings customers and fans of Otto’s Ski Shop,
Forty years ago, I was introduced to cross-country skiing and Otto’s Ski Shop. I fell in love with the sport and the industry and found a new passion in life.
For the last twenty years I have been the sole proprietor of Otto’s and am very proud of the fact it is a woman owned business that has provided me with a wonderful way of life. It has given my daughter a comfortable home and a great education. She now has been a practicing nurse for eight years and has been doing an amazing job.
After serving the Nordic community for the last forty years, now is my time to retire and take on new projects serving my community and friends, playing with my granddaughters, and exploring the wonderful world outside of Sandy.
Otto’s Ski Shop has been on the market for two years now. The business is for sale, but the building I rent is not for sale. My landlord is willing to rent to the new owner of Otto’s, or the business can be moved to another location.
I am asking all of you for your help in finding a buyer for Otto’s so this icon of the Nordic ski industry can go on and continue to provide the Portland Metro and Mount Hood area with the finest cross-country and snowshoe equipment.
The possibility of having cycling and water sports equipment through the summer for sale and rent is a great fit for Otto’s. When the business sells I am willing to work with and for the new owner in the transition as needed.
I am sharing a quote my niece Laila shared with me, by Danaan Perry. “Transition zones in our lives are incredibly rich places. Yes, with all the pain and fear and feelings, of being out of control that can accompany transitions, they are still the most alive, most growth-filled, passionate, expansive moments in our lives.”
If we are not able to find a buyer for Otto’s in the months of April or May, I will be needing to close the business. We are, at the present time, discounting everything in store. Our junior season rentals can be purchased in a larger size that will fit next year for the usual price of a season rental, and our season renters may purchase their packages with the price of their rental subtracted from the purchase price. For details, call the shop. Do not wait, thinking everything will get cheaper, I am offering my best prices now. We plan to store anything that is not sold by the end of May and do swap meets in the fall. My mind is abuzz with ideas for the transitions, but the most ideal is finding a buyer for Otto’s Ski Shop so that it may continue serving such a supportive community. Below is my broker’s contact information and he will provide you with details of the sale:

I thank you for the opportunity of having served you for many years. My customers have been supportive, caring, and carried me through challenging times over the years. My gratitude goes out to the employees that stood with me through the good and the difficult. The love that has been shown to me these last few months is overwhelming.
Thank you, from the bottom and top of my soon-to-be properly beating heart,
